Nintendo on Thursday announced the launch of three classic Mario video games on switch, and is looking to take advantage of the gaming momentum during the new Coronavirus (COVID-19) covid-19 pandemic.
In a presentation to celebrate the series' 35th anniversary on Thursday, Nintendo announced redesigned versions of some of its most famous 3D titles, including Super Mario 64 from 996, Super Mario Sunshine from 2002, and Super Mario Galaxy from 2007. The games will be grouped into a package called Super Mario 3D All-Stars and will be released on a "limited" basis from 18 September to 31 March 2021.
Nintendo has also launched a range of other games, including: a hybrid version of Mario Kart called Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, which allows users to control rc physical cars from their Console gaming platform, and MarioSuper Bros.35. Another ad from the company is a modern version of the original Game & Watch handheld device from the 1980s.
Mario Kart: Home Circuit will be released on October 16 for $99.99, while Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros will be launched on November 13 for $49.99, the company said. It is not yet clear how much Super Mario 3D All-Stars will be launched.
Relaunchs of classic products are expected to generate nintendo's greatest hype as the holiday shopping season approaches. The company will look to attract players, especially as Sony and Microsoft are expected to launch the upcoming PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
